This relaxed breakfast session held at the Fusebox in New England House, Brighton, was organised by Wired Sussex and attended by businesses in Brighton that are looking to sell products or services abroad via digital channels. All delegates were fuelled by delicious croissants from Brighton’s very own Real Patisserie and coffee courtesy of Small Batch – another local success story!
Mark Bedser, one of the founders of Madgex was the first speaker and he gave a real life account of his own export journey that highlighted some of the unexpected pit falls he encountered – the main message being do your research, then do some more research as well!
Stephen Golding from the newly rebranded Department for International Trade (DIT, formerly UKTI) gave a thorough run-down of all of the different services the government are offering to help SME’s to become exporters and to kick-start their export journeys. More information on which can be found at… https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/department-for-international-trade/about/about-our-services.
Other attendees included a precision manufacturing start-up, a WordPress developer that is about to relocate his office to sunny Spain, a law firm and a freelance photographer. We then had a lively question and answer session that tested Stephen’s knowledge on the tax implications of intellectual property and selling digital services abroad!
