Five Things to Know About the UKTI Passport to Export Programme:
FACT 1
Passport to Export is a programme established by UKTI (UK Trade and Investment), the international trade and inward investment promotion agency of the UK government to provide support and assistance to UK businesses who are already trading overseas or trying to break into exporting in a new foreign market.
FACT 2
The aim of the programme is to help businesses target international customers and understand international markets to give them the best start in exporting their products and services.
FACT 3
The 12-18 month programme is tailored to each business to help them develop an international or export strategy to get them started and is delivered by UKTI’s regional teams across the UK. An International Trade Advisor is available to offer advice and help develop an action plan to prepare the business for exporting, focusing on selecting appropriate markets for their products and to help them to carry out market research in these new markets.
FACT 4
The Passport to Export programme includes an export strategy workshop to give an overview of the processes involved in successful exporting and subsidised face-to-face training to build international expertise and best practice in promoting their product and service in another country, including the Website Optimisation for International Trade masterclass, developed by Grow Global and licensed to UKTI. This practical advice equips businesses with the tools they need to move into a new market and start exporting their goods and services, getting it right from the start.
FACT 5
To be eligible for UKTI’s Passport to Export programme, companies must employ fewer than 250 people and turn over less than £50 million a year, along with having a balance sheet less than £43 million.
