Five Things to Know About the UKTI Gateway to Global Growth Programme:
FACT 1
Gateway to Global Growth was set up by UKTI (UK Trade & Investment), an organisation working with UK-based businesses to help them succeed in global markets. This programme was set up in order to help experienced exporters move into new markets and deal with the fluctuating global economic climate which has proved challenging for many businesses.
FACT 2
The aim of the programme is to maximise opportunities for businesses and minimise potential risks for overseas exporting to help businesses feel more confident in their overseas endeavours. Gateway to Global Growth may involve complex solutions to overseas trading problems or queries, and may involve the inclusion of other public and private sector organisations to deliver the best results depending on the needs of the individual business.
FACT 3
This programme is delivered in the form of events, training and support from an International Trade Advisor. The advisor offers a strategic review of a business’ strategy in order to help them create a workable, realistic action plan. There are also networking opportunities to allow businesspeople to interact with those from other SMEs and industry experts, along with the chance to learn about the language and culture of potential target markets.
FACT 4
The programme offers businesses 12 months of tailored support, including troubleshooting, market research into new international markets and support on specialist subjects ranging from practical lessons on foreign exchange and economy theory to looking after your intellectual property.
FACT 5
To be eligible, businesses must be based in the UK, must have between two and 10 years of export experience or be an innovative company involved in research and development.
